staff has designed, created and delivered scores of programs for thousands
of managers and employees on the topic of diversity. These programs have
spanned a continuum from short, single issue programs (e.g., how to respond to
an allegation of harassment) to very comprehensive, multi-day programs such as establishing the business case for diversity, raising awareness of the organization
-specific issues surfaced through a needs assessment and skill building sessions
that respond to specific developmental needs.
When we design and develop programs, our work is guided by two fundamental principles:
• Adults learn best when they are actively involved in the learning and when the learning has immediate application to their work
• It is easier for people to change their behavior, skills and workplace interactions when specific examples are given them and information about the effects of their actions on others and the business are presented.
Our most requested program is an introductory one-day (6.5 hours of training time)
modular course in a classroom setting. This begins the diversity dialogue in the
organization, especially if the program rollout is cascaded from higher to lower
levels. If the company wishes to present a shorter program to segments of their
employee population after the initial roll out, as many of our clients do, there will
be greater receptivity to the shorter program once a critical mass of people have
experienced the full day session.
We also present real company data about how diversity is lived out to make
these concepts come alive.
